Armed Security Officer

Responsibilities

Conduct armed stationary, foot and/or vehicle patrol (interior and/or exterior). Control access and/or egress of personnel and vehicles. Compose reports. Deter criminal activity, misconduct, and breach of community rules. Perform other duties as specified in post orders.

• Posses a valid Florida class “D” and class “G” license
• OR Pass required training or other qualifications for licensing
• AND Be able to work scheduled twelve hour shifts
• Have a high school diploma or GED
• Able to operate in high stress situations
• Not use illegal drugs. You must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment)
• Be able to pass an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks
• Be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if you were in the military
• Be able to successfully complete all training required for the position
• Be able to operate a radio or telephone equipment
• Demonstrate an ability to interact firmly but cordially and communicate with the public
• Demonstrate the ability to pass a physical readiness test:
  • Run 1.5 miles in 17 minutes or less
  • Perform 30 push-ups in 2 minutes or less
  • Perform 30 sit-ups in 2 minutes or less
