Brief Description

This position/project is set to start in June 2026. Applicants must be a Canadian citizen to be considered. The Salvage Diver is responsible for carrying out dive operations as per instructions of the Dive Supervisor/Salvage Master to support wreck removal and emergency response works. The Salvage Diver is a project‑based position and requires domestic and international travel to project sites.

Position Responsibilities
  • Underwater inspection to ascertain, quantify, document and report the condition of the vessel or marine structure.
  • Carry out underwater cutting, drilling, burning and welding operations.
  • Fabrication of patches and installation of patches.
  • Carry out blow‑down operations to restore buoyancy.
  • Underwater fuel removal using hot tap or other mechanism.
  • Water jetting to remove mud.
  • Black water diving.
  • Able to handle heavy rigging and install shackles, chains, slings underwater.
  • Ability to carry out penetration dives.
  • Carry out standby duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Dive School Diploma.
  • Current ADCI/IMCA recognized certification; DCBC preferred.
  • Valid dive physical within 12 months.
  • First Aid, CPR with O₂ provider or emergency oxygen certification.
  • Experience in commercial diving and the salvage industry.
  • HAZWOPER 40‑hour with 8‑hour annual refresher.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Passport; global mobility strongly preferred and in most cases required.
  • Active TWIC or ability to obtain (USA employees).
  • Good working knowledge of all dive gear and equipment, including that related to the dive station for set‑up, maintaining and breaking down.
  • Familiarity and ability to operate all underwater hydraulic and pneumatic tools.
  • Intermediate level underwater burning/venting, hot tapping/fuel removal in zero visibility and with high currents.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of diving and salvage operations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of rigging; ability to handle and install heavy rigging underwater (e.g., shackles, chains, slings).
  • Intermediate supervisory, leadership, communication skills.
  • Proficient in all aspects of commercial diving; able to run deck operations with ease.
  • Good knowledge of all dive administrative aspects.
  • All prospective employees must submit to drug test and background check (USA employees).
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • OSHA 10‑hour.
  • Dive Medical Technician Certificate.
  • Mixed Gas Diver Certification.
  • Topside welding and fabrication.
  • Rigging and crane operations.
  • Equipment operator including forklift.
  • Mechanic background in diesel, hydraulics, pumps, etc.
  • Underwater burning experience from topside scrapping operations.
  • Demolition – explosive installation.
  • BOSIET.
  • Small boat operator.
  • Hazard communication.
  • Confined space entry.
  • NDT certification.
  • MMC with STCW training.
  • Diamond wire cutting; demolition experience preferred.
ADA Requirements
  • Sit or stand; climb stairs/ladders or balance.
  • See; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Taste/Smell; use hands/fingers to handle or feel.
  • Talk/hear.
  • Carry weight, lift 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to work; working inside and outside vessels, above water and underwater.
Travel Requirements

Extensive travel is required and at times for months at a stretch depending on the project duration. Ability to work out on remote or distant projects as needed for several months at a time. 24‑hour and 7‑day a week availability based on project or emergency response needs.
