Job Description

The Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29-story property offering extensive meeting and event space. The Refrigeration Technician will ensure a safe, efficient, well-maintained hotel environment through preventive maintenance and skilled repairs of refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance (PM) on refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintain and repair all refrigeration equipment in the building and kitchens including walk-in coolers and freezers, ice machines, under-counter coolers and freezers, reach-ins, cold plates, upright units and water filtration systems.
  • Work on other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain correct stock/inventory of refrigeration supplies and filters and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Respond to all service requests.
  • Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs as needed.
  • Understand Omni's fire alarm procedures and emergency evacuation protocols.
  • Be familiar with Omni's systems and procedures.
  • Keep all work areas clean and organized.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EPA universal licenses are required.
  • Previous refrigeration maintenance experience required; hotel experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, low voltage controls, plumbing, and gas systems.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting schematics.
  • General computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office & Excel; ability to learn other related engineering programs. Must be organized, mechanically inclined and eager to learn building mechanics.
  • Willingness to work based on business and occupancy levels.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with hotel guests.
  • Physical ability to move, bend, lift, carry, crawl, squat, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds; stand, walk or sit for extended periods.
  • Work indoors and outdoors, including during extreme weather conditions.
  • May be asked to be part of the "ride-out" crew during severe weather events.
  • Ability to work using ladders, scissors, and aerial lifts.
Environment & Position Analysis
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, walk or sit for extended periods. Repetitive motion with use of handheld and powered tools.
Tools & Equipment
  • Hardware and tools, ladder, telephone, pen/pencil, photocopier and two-way radio.
