JD Audio & Video Design Inc is seeking a detail‑oriented and driven CAD Designer to join our Design & Technical Department. This individual will play a pivotal role in translating conceptual designs into high‑quality technical drawings that support custom audio, video, lighting, shade, climate, and security installations in luxury residential and commercial environments. You'll collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure precision and compliance with client expectations and industry standards.

• Develop and maintain CAD standards for AV, lighting, shades, climate, and security systems.
• Create detailed wiring diagrams, rack elevations, and dimensional drawings for client projects.
• Collaborate with Sales and Project Management teams on pre‑ and post‑sales support.
• Produce accurate As‑Built plans and drawing packages for field and project teams.
• Participate in project bidding by interpreting bid documents and drafting preliminary plans.
• Communicate with vendors and manufacturers for technical support and product specs.
• Conduct design coordination with architects, engineers, and interior designers.
• Maintain and improve internal systems and drafting processes.
• Attend and report on team meetings and strategic planning sessions.
• Support upper management in all CAD‑related tasks across departments.
• Represent the company at trade shows and industry events when required.

• 5-10+ Years of Experience
• Experienced in navigating a drawing set with enlarged plans, elevation markers, etc.
• Proficient in reading an architect’s plans to quickly locate needed information.
• Ability to create enlarged plans & elevations.
• Viewport manipulation skills.
• Managing external references, understanding the difference between overlay & attach.
• Scaling PDF references accurately to 1:1 size.
• Techniques for using PDF objects to scale to real‑world size in model space.
• Proficiency with selection command, used for efficiency.
• Layer isolate for background cleanup or error checking.
• Stretch command for moving objects and stretching leader arrows.
• Align command for rotating, aligning, and scaling objects in a single action.
• Dimension settings: dim scale linear, dim scale overall.
• Text override, precision handling.
