Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Regional Engineer, this position supports the organization’s Quality Control Management System and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervision ReceivedGeneral supervision
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collect and test samples for block / paver compression and absorption testing
- Maintain product performance data and issue supporting documentation as necessary
- Monitor production lines for consistent color, texture and material dimensions
- Perform material tests and inspect raw materials, work‑in‑progress and finished goods to ensure they meet established quality standards
- Report changes in strength of raw materials and finished product quality to management
- Recommend corrective action when appropriate
- Document lab test results and monitor process changes as required
- Analyze batch weights to ensure mix designs do not fluctuate
- Maintain mix designs and batching computer entries for all mix designs
- Coordinate and conduct weekly Block Plant raw materials density testing
- Prepare product samples for the Sales Department, including color and texture approvals
- Contribute to overall business development utilizing the understanding of elements mentioned above
- Attend safety meetings and adhere to all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; report and correct hazardous conditions
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- High School Diploma or equivalent with advanced courses in laboratory testing technique
- One to three years of experience in a manufacturing laboratory environment
- Advanced understanding of concrete
- Ability to operate forklift and pass an annual forklift certification course
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals such as ASTM Standards and NCMA Technical Bulletins
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions in practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in operating office equipment, including calculator, computer, copy machine, document scanner, fax and telephone
- Maintain a clean work area
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Constant sitting, standing, talking or listening
- Occasional reaching with hands and arms and bending at the waist or neck
- Lifting up to 100 pounds
- Plant environment with loud noise, moving machinery, dusty and dirty conditions
- Outdoor weather conditions
- Wear mandatory and/or other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- $23.00 - $26.00, depending on experience
