SCG Operator

Overview

SCG Operator role at Basalite Concrete Products. Under the supervision of the Yard & Secondary Operations Superintendent, this position supports secondary operations of block production, including splitting, cutting, grinding, blasting, and tumbling. The operator works in a team environment, rotating tasks to support the production schedule. The role ensures proper machine functionality, production efficiency, product quality, and supports the company core values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success.

• Efficient and safe operation of equipment used in secondary operations (splitter, grinder, saw, blaster, tumbler).
• Check blocks for proper quality (splits, cuts, grindings) and make critical equipment adjustments to ensure finished product quality.
• Operate a forklift to move material to and from secondary operations.
• Read and adhere to the secondary operations schedule; complete required production paperwork for daily activities.
• Load blocks into process equipment by hand and stack finished products on pallets by hand as needed.
• Perform daily equipment preventative maintenance tasks and maintain a clean, organized work area per company standards.
• Attend safety meetings and follow all safety rules; report and correct hazardous conditions.
• Maintain predictable and regular attendance.
• Other duties as assigned by the company or its representatives.

• Industrial production line experience preferred.
• Forklift operation required;
  Basalite forklift certification must be obtained on the job.
• On-the-job training to properly operate equipment.
• Ability to interface with automated machine operator screens; basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow oral and written instructions; good communication skills.
• Ability to act professionally, address conflict, and remain calm in high-stress situations.
• Predictable and regular attendance is required.

• Frequent use of hands, reaching, standing, walking, and sitting; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Lifting up to 100 pounds.

• Plant environment with moderate to loud noise, moving machinery, dust, fumes, and other hazards; may involve elevated platforms, outdoor and extreme temperatures.
• Exposure to PPE requirements and potential chemicals.

• Salary: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour (depends on experience).
