Jim Baier Ford is actively seeking an Automotive Lube Technician to manage essential vehicle maintenance and fluid services in Fort Madison, IA. Core Responsibilities
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, transmission fluid checks, and overall fluid level inspections.
  • Inspect vehicle belts, filters, tire air pressure, and gauges to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Test mechanical systems and components to confirm they are secure and functioning correctly.
  • Isolate faulty systems or components to accurately diagnose potential mechanical issues.
  • Conduct vehicle test drives to verify performance and repair quality.
  • Execute repairs and replace worn parts proactively to prevent future vehicle breakdowns.
  • Operate power tools, machine tools, and common hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain a strict standard of efficiency and accuracy during all diagnostic and repair procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in an automotive service department.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid baseline knowledge of automobiles.
  • Ability to identify mechanical problems quickly and accurately.
  • Comfortable operating electronic diagnostic equipment to assess vehicle status.
  • Capacity to learn new automotive technology, repair procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Effective communication and analytical skills, supported by strong reading and mathematics abilities.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, friendly attitude.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Basic computer skills for logging service details and accessing repair manuals.
  • Preferred:
    Technical degree or ASE certifications.
  • Preferred:
    Existing Ford Certification or previous experience at a Ford dealership.
