Part-time Instructor - Industrial Maintenance - CBIZ

Southeastern Community College is seeking a part‑time instructor to deliver non-credit industrial maintenance training for local businesses and industry partners. This hands‑on teaching role focuses on mechanical systems, electrical fundamentals, preventive maintenance, and PLCs, tailored to meet employer‑specific workforce development needs. This role involves instruction, curriculum delivery, and hands‑on lab facilitation in a face‑to‑face learning environment.

The instructor will deliver flexible, high‑impact training to adult learners, focusing on the practical application of skills and real‑world workplace relevance. Instruction will cover key areas such as mechanical systems, machine repair, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance, and workplace safety – ensuring alignment with current industry standards. Training may be conducted on campus or on‑site at employer locations, depending on the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned non‑credit courses in industrial maintenance and safety.
  • Deliver instruction through lectures, demonstrations, and lab activities.
  • Provide hands‑on training in safety, electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Monitor and assess student progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Maintain classroom and lab equipment in good working condition.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in the industrial maintenance field.
  • Contribute to curriculum improvement and training material updates as needed.
Schedule & Compensation
  • Schedule will vary based on course assignments and program needs.
  • Evening and daytime classes may be available.
  • Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Adjunct teaching contracts are subject to cancellation due to low student enrollment.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, and/or 3 years (6000) hours of recent and relevant work experience.
  • Professional experience in machine repair, preventive maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems, and PLC programming.
  • Relevant industry certifications are highly preferred.
  • Prior teaching or training experience in a vocational or technical setting is a plus.
  • Strong communication, instructional, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to student success and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred qualifications as above.
Physical Demands

Ability to carry and distribute class materials and ability to rearrange classroom as needed.
