The Instructor will conduct entry‑level Commercial Driver License (CDL) road and yard training, promote students’ successful attainment of employment upon graduation, instruct defensive driving techniques, and educate students on the safe and professional operation of a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and State regulations. The role includes assessing individuals’ ability to demonstrate the necessary skills, including pre‑trip inspections, road and backing skills.

• Provide hands‑on instruction in the safe and professional operation of a commercial motor vehicle in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Provide safety oversight throughout all training evaluations in accordance with course curriculum and company safety policy.
• Master training requirements, compliance standards, and company policies to improve processes and better facilitate training needs as directed by CBIZ Programmer.
• Provide management of students in a field training environment.
• Coordinate the use of equipment resources and training range.
• Ensure training skills and criteria are assessed and scores are properly recorded for each individual.
• Observe, mentor and make recommendations respective to individual training and developmental needs.
• Evaluate students individually on their operational skills and assess their progress during each training evaluation according to course curriculum.
• Counsel students as needed regarding skill issues and adherence to DOT and company regulations.
• Train students in areas of weakness through constructive feedback and adult learning processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

Adjunct teaching contracts are subject to cancellation due to low student enrollment.

• Minimum of 5 years of CDL Class A and/or Class B experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid & clean driving record and current DOT Medical Card.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to pass pre‑employment and random drug screening.

• Experience teaching CDL classes.

• Professional attitude, demeanor and presentation.
• Superior communication skills: written and verbal.
• Ability to work within a team and independently.
• Compliance with all safety rules and regulations and making safety a priority.
• Patience and awareness of cultural diversity.
• Willingness to work with students in a group setting and independently with classroom and practical hands‑on skills training.
• Willingness to perform required paperwork, attendance, progress reports, and any necessary documentation as required.
