Southeastern Community College Center for Business (CBIZ) is seeking instructor(s) for a part‑time position to teach Cosmetology Continuing Education (CEU) courses for licensed professionals. Iowa cosmetologists are required to complete 6 hours of CE every two years for license renewal, including at least 2 hours of Iowa law, rules and sanitation, and 4 hours related to their specific practice area (e.g., hair, nails or skin).
These courses help licensed cosmetologists meet state licensure renewal requirements. Classes are offered at our Burlington, Keokuk, Mt. Pleasant, and Fort Madison campuses and may be scheduled during weekdays, evenings, or weekends depending on demand.

- Welcome participants and provide a professional, engaging classroom experience.
- Under limited supervision, provide instruction based on Iowa Board of Cosmetology requirements.
- Deliver content aligned with law and sanitation as well as discipline‑specific trends and practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional learning environment.
- Provide exemplary customer service through positive class interaction, meeting participant needs, and maintaining a clean, neat, and inviting learning experience while having a positive and upbeat attitude.
- Effectively communicate with participants and Continuing Education staff.
- Clean and straighten classroom before and after each class.
- Submit all required course documentation for CEU certificates to the Continuing Education staff.
- Travel required with ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Perform other work duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications- Must hold an active Iowa cosmetology license in good standing.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must pass pre‑employment and random drug screening.
- Personify a professional attitude and commitment to exceeding expectations and have superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Be passionate about life‑long learning.
- Must comply with all safety rules and regulations and make safety a priority.
- Possess patience and awareness of cultural diversity.
- Deal responsibly and effectively with problems, exercise independent judgment when making decisions.
- Willing to complete required paperwork, attendance, progress reports, and any necessary documentation.

Preferred Qualifications- Teaching or training experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Iowa Board of Cosmetology CEU standards.
- Experience developing and delivering education or professional development content.
- Experience in curriculum development desired.
Ability to carry and distribute class materials and to rearrange classroom as needed.
