Job Summary

Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow and improves pharmacy financials, inventory and patient experience.

Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement, overseeing training, coaching and formal performance management initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Engage patients by greeting them, offering assistance and resolving issues promptly to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Model and share customer‑service best practices with the team, demonstrating curiosity, empathy and inclusivity.
  • Proactively anticipate patient needs and promote Walgreens health‑care offerings such as medication management, drug therapy reviews and wellness services.
  • Participate in community events as requested by Store Manager, Healthcare Supervisor or District Manager.
  • Counsel patients and answer questions about medication use, side effects, interactions and insurance coverage.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
  • Ensure pharmacy operations comply with regulations and company policies, including staffing, scheduling and workflow procedures.
  • Maintain Good Faith Dispensing policy and controlled‑substance laws compliance.
  • Collaborate with Store Manager on strategic business opportunities and new initiatives.
  • Maintain IT knowledge of pharmacy systems, support staff and patients with technology, and identify productivity improvements.
  • Process insurance claims accurately, resolve issues and follow up with providers as needed.
  • Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing and disease‑state management.
  • Collaborate with centralized support for patient registration and exception resolution; assist in virtual product reviews.
  • Oversee maintenance, housekeeping and equipment upgrades for the pharmacy department.
  • Prepare and submit required records and reports for state and federal compliance.
  • Collaborate with Store Manager on hiring, discipline, termination and employment‑law compliance.
  • Establish staff expectations, promote teamwork, recognize performance, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Identify high‑potential team members and collaborate on career development.
  • Maintain team morale, address employee relations concerns and ensure positive workplace culture.
  • Maintain required licensing, credentialing and certification as governed by state and federal regulations.
  • Continuously improve pharmacy knowledge through reading, journals and Walgreens publications.
  • Complete required education credits, training modules and professional development activities.
  • Seek mentorship and coaching from Healthcare Supervisor and Store Manager.
  • Support Store Manager in communicating corporate health and wellness strategy to pharmacy staff.
  • Analyze performance data including financials, service metrics and inventory; identify improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee pharmacy asset‑protection and inventory management activities.
  • Maintain relationships with local medical community and promote pharmacy business growth.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS in Pharmacy or Pharm

    D from an accredited institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in each applicable state.
  • Certified Immunizer or able to become certified within 90 days of hire.
  • At least one year of pharmacy experience in prescription filling, record‑keeping, legal compliance, operations, technology and insurance billing.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate knowledge of state and federal controlled‑substance laws.
