Overview
Shipping Receiving Specialist Shipping and Receiving Specialist position works in the warehouse area for receiving, storing, and delivering of goods and supplies throughout the warehouse and production areas. The position is responsible for safely and efficiently driving unit to trailers to move to and from dock doors for loading and unloading trucks. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, work independently and follow ALTOR Solutions’ standards for safety and conduct.
Responsibilities- Oversee the proper loading, unloading, and handling of goods and materials.
- Load trucks according to loading layouts.
- Ensure all loads are strapped in accordance with DOT rules and regulations; inspect containers as necessary.
- Operate power industrial equipment as required.
- Validate received materials and goods with invoices to ensure accuracy of deliveries.
- Complete paperwork related to received goods and processing of bills of lading; obtain signed copies of bills of ladings and understand BOLs, pick sheets, and other shipping paperwork.
- Ensure proper handling and stocking of goods in compliance with warehousing and storage requirements.
- Receive supplies and materials into the warehouse.
- Monitor warehouse records and inventory and report discrepancies in quantities and damages to the supervisor as needed.
- Communicate with supervisors and managers to ensure requirements are met and that necessary tools are available to complete tasks.
- Adhere to plant specifications, task lists, and complete required paperwork; maintain safe practices and PPE usage as per company standards.
- Maintain a clean workstation and surrounding area; perform cleaning or maintenance duties as instructed by supervision.
- Work assigned shifts, including overtime and after-shift meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Education and Experience- High school diploma / GED
- 1 – 3 years of related experience
- CDL is required

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and to reach with hands and arms and stoop/crouch, bend or twist.
The employee is occasionally required to push, pull, and/or move material and work in awkward positions, such as underneath equipment or around machines in operations areas.
The work environment is typical of most manufacturing environments. The noise level is usually high, with ear protection required as posted. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
