Thompson Construction Group is seeking experienced Civil Construction Foremen to support multiple earthworks and civil construction projects in the Fort McMurray region. These roles support a range of project scopes including mass earthworks, mining support activities, pond construction, reclamation, and heavy hauling operations.
Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Civil Construction Foreman provides day-to-day leadership to field crews, coordinates workforce and equipment resources, and ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
Responsibilities
Support the Site Superintendent in planning and coordinating daily construction activitiesLead and supervise crews across various scopes of civil and earthworks projectsCoordinate equipment, workforce, and material requirements to meet production targetsCommunicate daily tasks, safety expectations, and performance goals clearly to crew membersPromote and enforce company and client safety policies and proceduresMonitor work progress, productivity, and quality standardsEnsure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and QA/QC requirementsOversee safe and efficient hauling operations involving shovels/excavators and large haul truck fleets (including 793 and 785 units) where applicableSupport project activities related to pond construction, reclamation, and large-scale earthworksParticipate in site meetings, toolbox talks, and daily planning discussionsComplete daily reporting, production tracking, and required documentationQualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in mining, light civil, or heavy civil constructionExperience in earthworks, pond construction, reclamation, or large-scale hauling operations is considered an assetAbility to supervise crews across multiple scopes within a dynamic site environmentStrong understanding of construction drawings, blueprints, and QA/QC documentationDemonstrated experience coordinating safe and productive hauling operationsStrong leadership and communication skillsValid Class 5 Driver’s LicenseCSO certificationLeadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) certificationWillingness to work a rotational schedule in Fort McMurray with camp accommodationsAbility to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testingAdditional Information
These are full-time, project-based, rotational positions located in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Project scope and duration will vary based on operational requirements.
