Site Manager, Construction Manager/ Foreman
Thompson Construction Group is seeking experienced Civil Construction Foremen to support multiple earthworks and civil construction projects in the Fort McMurray region. These roles support a range of project scopes including mass earthworks, mining support activities, pond construction, reclamation, and heavy hauling operations.
Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Civil Construction Foreman provides day-to-day leadership to field crews, coordinates workforce and equipment resources, and ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
Responsibilities- Support the Site Superintendent in planning and coordinating daily construction activities
- Lead and supervise crews across various scopes of civil and earthworks projects
- Coordinate equipment, workforce, and material requirements to meet production targets
- Communicate daily tasks, safety expectations, and performance goals clearly to crew members
- Promote and enforce company and client safety policies and procedures
- Monitor work progress, productivity, and quality standards
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and QA/QC requirements
- Oversee safe and efficient hauling operations involving shovels/excavators and large haul truck fleets (including 793 and 785 units) where applicable
- Support project activities related to pond construction, reclamation, and large-scale earthworks
- Participate in site meetings, toolbox talks, and daily planning discussions
- Complete daily reporting, production tracking, and required documentation
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mining, light civil, or heavy civil construction
- Experience in earthworks, pond construction, reclamation, or large-scale hauling operations is considered an asset
- Ability to supervise crews across multiple scopes within a dynamic site environment
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, blueprints, and QA/QC documentation
- Demonstrated experience coordinating safe and productive hauling operations
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- CSO certification
- Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) certification
- Willingness to work a rotational schedule in Fort McMurray with camp accommodations
- Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing
These are full-time, project-based, rotational positions located in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Project scope and duration will vary based on operational requirements.
