The Operations Supervisor at Neegan Development is responsible for training, directing, organizing, and supervising field personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of work on site. This role provides day-to-day leadership for crews, coordinates operational and inspection activities, maintains operational records, and promotes strong safety, production, and communication standards.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate operational and inspection activities within the assigned job site.
- Provide clear shift-to-shift communication, including manpower and equipment locations, work progress, operational issues, and safety concerns.
- Conduct toolbox/tailgate meetings at the start of each shift and when mobilizing to a new site, including Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs), site hazards, PPE requirements, planned work activities, and crew questions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records, including timesheets, daily logs, equipment and inspection documentation, and incident/accident/safety reports.
- Ensure complaints, requests for information, and operational issues are addressed promptly through the appropriate channels.
- Resolve workplace conflicts and support positive crew performance and accountability.
- Perform frequent field inspections to verify safe work practices, proper PPE use, and compliance with company and client requirements.
- Monitor equipment utilization and workforce productivity to ensure operational efficiency.
- Report operational events, production impacts, safety incidents, and other activities affecting business performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce turnaround times, streamline work processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, HSE, and client representatives to deliver safe, high-quality, and seamless service.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting activities to support operational objectives.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or vocational training is considered an asset.
- Heavy Equipment Technician/Journeyperson certification is considered an asset.
- Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory experience within the heavy equipment, construction, mining, or industrial services industry.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of heavy equipment and construction equipment.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Proven track record of achieving strong HSE performance outcomes.
- Experience managing production, cost, and schedule performance.
- Recent planning and budgeting experience is preferred.
- Experience supporting civil construction, mining, and contract operations is considered an asset.
