Urban Planner II

Shape vibrant communities as a Planner II for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Fort McMurray. This full-time position focuses on statutory document preparation and development application review.

As a Planner II, you will work under general supervision to deliver essential planning documents and engage with community development initiatives. Your expertise will aid in the evaluation of socio-demographic data and facilitate informed decision-making for development applications. This role is critical in achieving sustainable urban growth in our dynamic region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead project evaluations and amendments for planning documents

• Compile and analyze socio-demographic and technical data

• Review development applications and make informed decisions

• Negotiate development agreements with applicants

• Provide professional planning advice to stakeholders

Requirements:

• Degree in Urban or Regional Planning

• Three years of relevant experience

• Knowledge of Alberta's planning hierarchy and municipal by-laws

• Strong communication skills for report preparation

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS tools
