HT 20 - Educational Assistant 3, Specialized Education Program

Fort McMurray Catholic School Division is seeking a full-time Educational Assistant to support students in the High School Specialized Education Programs.

Qualifications
  • Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma
  • Ability to support Social, Language Arts, Math, and Sciences for grades 7–12, including 30‑1 levels
Responsibilities
  • Support student academic growth in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts, addressing cognition, communication, physical, and social development.
  • Implement teacher‑directed programming and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Apply behaviour management and educational strategies to facilitate learning and mitigate negative behaviours.
  • Use age‑appropriate positive reinforcements and school‑specific behaviour strategies.
  • Observe and document student behaviour to promote positive outcomes.
  • Provide structured support for completion of learning outcomes.
  • Assist with adaptive and learning technologies across various devices.
  • Implement the Positive Behaviour Plan (PBP) when required and employ NVCI‑certified strategies for students with autism or complex medical needs.
  • Supervise students indoors and outdoors as directed.
  • Effectively communicate with students and collaborate with teachers, CST, and other support staff.
  • Employee is expected to address behaviors related to conduct, trauma, ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning, and speech & language disabilities.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. All employees must be computer literate, including proficiency with e‑mail, Internet, and MS Office.
