Student Support Navigator - 10 Month Sessional The Opportunity
Keyano College’s Student Conduct Department is currently seeking a Student Support Navigator to join our dynamic team. This position serves as the primary liaison between students, institutional policies, and support services. This dual-purpose role is responsible for managing the Student Affairs & Conduct Reporting workflow while simultaneously providing wholistic supports and wellness referrals for students.
The role manages the intake and supports the adjudication process for academic and non-academic misconduct, ensuring procedural fairness and helping students turn disciplinary incidents into learning opportunities through coaching where possible. Additionally, the Navigator continues to support the broader student population by removing non-academic barriers (housing, finance, mental health) through trauma-informed systems navigation and wellness related referrals. This position is intended to help build a culture of integrity and resilience by guiding students through complex college processes with a focus on education, restorative justice, and holistic well-being.
This is a 10-month sessional role from mid-August to mid-June to align with support during the Academic year. Where a new hire is accepted during the year, the session will be complete the following June and renew in August to begin the start of the next academic year.

this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

- Intake & Triage:
Collaborate with the Operations Coordinator to triage cases based on severity and policy requirements. Initiate contact with student respondents based on incoming submissions to the Student Affairs Complaints & Reports List. - Procedural Guidance:
Meet with students reported for misconduct to explain the relevant policies and procedures related to Student Code of Conduct, Academic Integrity Policy, Non-Academic Policy, and Gender-Based & Sexual Violence Policy. Clearly explain their rights, the investigation process, and potential outcomes in plain language. - Preliminary Investigation Support:
Conduct impartial fact-finding interviews with student respondents and assist them by taking preliminary statements from and provide them to decision‑makers. - Coaching:
Utilize restorative justice and coaching principles to help students reflect on their behavior. Discuss lessons learned and strategies to avoid future misconduct. - Coordination and
Collaboration:
With the Operations Coordinator handle administrative tasks related to conduct cases (e.g., schedule and coordinate hearings/meetings between Students, Instructors, Chairs, Directors, Deans, the Academic Integrity Office and/or Registrar). Coordinate support with the Students Association of Keyano College (SAKC). - Workshops:
Develop and deliver skill‑building training for students. Topics include Understanding Academic Integrity, Conflict Resolution, Resilience, and Healthy Coping. - Campaigns:
Lead and/or support awareness events (e.g., Academic Integrity Week, Mental Health Week) to create a culture of wellness and honesty on campus. - Resource Creation:
Maintain a repository of student resources (guides, flowcharts, referral lists, and training) related to both conduct and wellness. - Community Networking:
