High School Senior Inclusive Program; SILP Teacher

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a high school special education teacher for the Senior Inclusive Living Program (SILP) at Holy Trinity Catholic High School (Grades 7‑12). The position is for the 2025‑2026 school year.

• Support students in literacy and numeracy across a range of skill levels.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Provide opportunities for life skills through community outings, swim lessons, and potential work skills.
• Promote communication and social skills with peers, staff, and community members.
• Use technology to support students requiring augmentative communication.
• Manage challenging behavior using a variety of strategies to prevent and reduce stress behaviors and co‑regulate when students are upset.
• Coordinate with internal and external professionals to deliver instructional and therapeutic programming.
• Plan and support Educational Assistants.

• Specialized training or experience in Inclusive/Special Education.
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs.
• Proficiency in assistive and instructional technologies, particularly for communication support.
• Experience with students having medical complexities and high behavioral needs.
• Certification in Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or willingness to obtain.
• Eligible for Alberta Teacher Certification and hold a Bachelor of Education Degree.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and flexibility.
• Organized with ability to meet deadlines according to the school schedule.
• Commitment to education and enthusiasm for daily classroom interaction.
