Job Description

ELLA is a program designed to help limited English speaking children develop their language skills and increase their confidence. ELLA Tutors teach reading, speaking, writing and listening skills. ELLA Tutors facilitate program sessions, promote the program, and complete program reports.

Education & Experience

The preferred candidate will have post-secondary education, a diploma, or a certificate in Education, English, or Child Development. Other related education and experience will be considered. Preference is given to those who have worked with children and/or have teaching experience.

Skill Requirements
  • Proficient in English with preference for bilingualism. Candidate must produce an English language proficiency test if English is a second language.
  • Excellent teaching skills and an aptitude for working with children
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong report-writing skills
  • A passion for and a good understanding of multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion
  • Willing to work days
  • Proficiency in teaching in person
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams) and Google Classroom
  • Able to work independently or part of a team
Employment Details
  • Applicant must be a resident of Fort McMurray, AB
  • Part Time (6-24 hours per week) excluding school holidays and statutory holidays
  • Hours can be increased depending upon budget and need
  • Duration:
    October 2026 - May 2027 with possible annual renewal
  • Pay of $25.00 per hour
  • Closing Date:
    August 31, 2026
