COOEC ON- SITE K1B WELL PADS, K1A EXPANSION AND OTHER PROJECTS ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION LEAD
The COOEC C&SU Electrical and Instrumentation Lead reports to the COOEC Commissioning and Start Up Manager (C&SU Manager) and interfaces with the COOEC subcontractors in all matters relating to the work, quality assurance and safety procedures on the jobsite. He/She is responsible for:
- Interfacing with the COOEC and CNOOC Teams to ensure that COOEC’s reputation as a safety & quality driven contractor is a priority, at all times.
- Supporting and monitoring the contractors Work Plans packages, ensuring specification compliance for activities relevant to Electrical and Instrumentation work scopes with the support of the C&SU Manager, CNOOC Instrumentation and Control Leads.
- Ensuring subcontractor personnel and supervision are familiar with and abide by all quality & safety related objectives and requirements.
- Reporting to C&SU Manager to assure that all the requirements of the specifications have been adhered to and project deliverables are being complete to support system commissioning, start up sequence and schedule and validate completion of Electrical, Instrumentation and DCS systems.
- Monitoring the activities of all COOEC subcontractor personnel, acknowledging, and resolving field level RFI’s NCR’s and corrective actions.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of the subcontractor’s performance and productivity through scheduled audits and reviews.
- Coordinate vendor support during functional testing of critical equipment and ensure pre-commissioning activities are completed to support vendor site work scope.
- Participate in safety reviews such as PSSR, Field Walk Downs, PHAs and other activities required to progress Commissioning and Start Up sequence.
- Ensure COOEC subcontractors submit all required turnover documentation to meet project timelines.
- Passion for safe execution with knowledge and courage to achieve extraordinary HSE results.
- Ensure the Project work site is in conformance with all provincial regulatory requirements and the work scope is mechanically complete, and ready for pre-commissioning.
- Work with the COOEC CMT to ensure all deficiencies identified during the construction phase are close and ensure the systems are mechanically complete and ready for move into CSU.
- Experience as Electrical Lock Out Authority for large projects involving Medium and Low Voltage Electrical MCC.
- Must have construction and commissioning experience in the O&G with at least 10 to 15 years of experience in working in large projects.
- Electrical Engineering Technologist, Journey Man Electrician or Red Seal
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Have a wide range of knowledge of commissioning and start up, construction and an understanding of applicable codes, and standards.
- Be well organized and analytical with the ability to communicate information clearly and precisely.
- Available to work extra hours or a weekend day on occasion as well as periods of night shifts when the work on site requires.
This position is for 1 to 3 year to start in June or July 2026, working in the field at the construction site, which is SE of Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Hours at site will be 12 hours per day, 6 days on and 1 day off, Monday to Saturday with the potential to work a possible 12 days on 2 days off, Monday to the next Friday. Or 10 days on and 4 days off as required.
