Specialist Engineer in Process Safety

Join Suncor as a Specialist Process Safety Engineer in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This role focuses on advancing operational risk processes to boost safety in high-stakes industrial settings.
As a full-time engineer, you will leverage your extensive risk management background to strengthen Suncor’s operational risk protocols. With at least 10 years of experience in oil sands operations, you will collaborate with diverse teams and facilitate initiatives that advance Suncor’s risk management maturity.

Your role will be pivotal in developing asset risk strategies and managing critical controls at the Base Plant site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee ORM processes for your production unit's operations

• Partner with leadership to enhance risk maturity effectiveness

• Design and maintain Asset Level risk registers

• Conduct Bowtie analysis for Major Incident Hazards

• Evaluate risk maturity through comprehensive reporting
Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of risk management experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Process, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering

• Licensed Professional Engineer or eligible for registration

• In-depth understanding of industry-specific risk management

• Ability to influence and lead without authority
