General DescriptionThe Manager, Financial Planning is responsible for overseeing all activities of the Financial Planning section within the Corporate Services Division. This involves leading municipal-wide financial functions in the areas of financial planning and analytical services related to the budget cycle and budget management processes, corporate financial reporting, and financial statement preparation.

- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively present in a variety of settings at all levels of the organization in accordance with Municipal policy.
- Ability to interpret complex policies, legislation, and the Municipal Government Act.
- Highly developed analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, political awareness and sensitivity.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, employees, leaders, and external contacts and interact in a manner that builds trust, credibility, and rapport.
- Negotiation, interpersonal, investigation, mediation, and facilitation skills.
- High emotional intelligence capacity including ability to deal effectively with ambiguity, remain calm and neutral in conflict situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and SAP finance modules.
- Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- Ten (10) years of progressive experience in a financial services environment with experience in financial planning and reporting.
