Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, General Labor, Installation Technician
Position Overview
The Service Writer is responsible for maintaining the organization of the shop and field, writing and billing all work orders that come through daily, filing them as required, and ensuring all information is on all billable paperwork. The role builds a professional relationship with regular and new customers and ensures paperwork flows timely. This will be a continuous 7x7 shift.

Job DescriptionCustomer Service
- Interfaces with customers in a courteous, business‑like manner, answering their inquiries and assisting in meeting their needs, and obtaining information from other sources if required.
- Maintains control of field mechanics and keeps field work orders up to date.
- Works with the shop foreman to maintain control of all work orders.
- Works with the parts personnel to keep control of parts and proper billing.
- Oversees the scheduling of the lube technicians and maintains the service board in the shop to ensure effective service.
Administrative Functions

- Excel
- Keeps paperwork current to insure thorough action on all transactions
Process
- Retrieving, filing, and maintaining SMFs
- Opens and closes work orders
- Processes work orders and customer invoices with accuracy
- Updates equipment statuses
- Calls for NDTs and maintains a spreadsheet of current units requiring NDTs
- Tracks down POs from customers
- Works with service manager and shop foreman to maintain and support the branch with cost‑effective ideas and processing
- Builds working relationships with local customers and employees
- Maintains records of customer‑owned equipment
- Receives and logs service calls for field technicians
- Dispatches field technicians
- Maintains location of mechanics at time to ensure safety
- Supplies shop mechanics with paperwork for their day‑to‑day duties
- Exchanges equipment when required
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of work experience in a mechanical or shop setting
- Capable of working with minimal supervision
- Exhibits professional work behaviours and high ethical standards
- Attention to detail
- Works well with peers and supervisors
- Any other duties required by the supervisor
Work Environment
- Fast‑paced, work under pressure, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, demanding, sitting for extended periods, wearing proper PPE
- Capable of working shifts
