Bring on Board (Pre Apprentice Program)
We are seeking potential newcomers who are interested in a career as an HD Crane Mechanic.
The Bring on Board (BOB) candidate will be required to demonstrate performance excellence during a 180‑day assessment period, during which the candidate will be working in an entry‑level Laborer role. The program is intended to help the entrant get exposed to the industry and develop their job skills and trade readiness. NCSG has established performance standards that identify characteristics of candidates who will excel in our industry.
Performance skills the BOB candidate will be evaluated on during the assessment period are attendance, attitude, health & safety, initiative, job knowledge, productivity, quality of work and working well with others.
Once the candidate successfully proves their capabilities during their trial period, the company will sponsor the individual as an HD Mechanic Apprentice.
QualificationsYour success will be defined by your ability to:
- Begin and leave work at the agreed upon times
- Understand the set of job responsibilities and carry out instructions furnished in written and oral forms
- Promote a safe work culture and adherence to safety regulations
- Be respectful and helpful when interacting with co‑workers and customers
- Display a willingness to take initiative
- Perform work activities in a safe, productive and efficient manner. Some work activities may include:
- Report broken/damaged equipment that needs repairing
- Safe and accurate loading/unloading of deliveries
- Clean parking areas, equipment and remove trash
- Ensure all required paperwork including but not limited to time sheets and FLRA’s are completed and submitted in a timely manner
- Assist shop/yard personnel as needed
- Minimum of Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 1 preferred) with clean abstract
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar industry would be an advantage
- Mechanically inclined
- Basic computer skills
- Numeracy skills
- Thinking skills (problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and job task planning)
- Effective communication skills. Speak and write clearly and informatively.

- Provide clean driver abstract
