Job Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and operating from the Fort McKay Incubator Park, the Parts Technician is required to support the day‑to‑day operations of our warehouse/shop. The incumbent will be responsible for the ordering and receiving of various parts required for our facilities, business and equipment, and will oversee the daily direction and management of support staff in Shipping and Receiving.

The individual in this position must be able to multi‑task efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Quote, purchase, receive and distribute parts/supplies as per maintenance and operational needs.
  • Track and control shop costs, inventory levels, in and out flow of inventory.
  • Act as a buyer and negotiate price with vendors, determine where the best price and quickest availability can be found, and present to management for approval where required.
  • Support maintenance budget as directed by the Manager.
  • Provide guidance and support the process of implementing and maintaining a maintenance management software system.
  • Organize parts room, set up locations, label and catalog inventory.
  • Follow all BME rules, policies, safe job procedures and practices.
  • Provide a high level of service to internal and external customers and communicate with and support other departments in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Coordinate the shipping and receiving of freight with multiple carriers.
  • Load and unload freight using a forklift.
  • Assist in recruitment with HR and management of personnel.
  • Promote a safe work environment through implementation and creation of safe work procedures with the HSE team.
  • Provide strong leadership and direct daily activities of the Shipper/Receiver’s to ensure all BME and client policies and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Complete regular inspections.
  • Identify deficiencies and correct them.
  • Meet company set key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Follow BME procedures, policies, and practices.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and strong work ethic.
  • Assess hazards and correct them in a timely manner, and report all safety concerns and incidents to your Manager.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Skills
  • Preference shall be given to candidates that have a journeyman status as a parts technician.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a part technician position in the transportation sector.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license (minimum class
    5) with a clean abstract.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Forklift ticket considered an asset.
  • Knowledgeable in the various aspects of the trucking industry.
  • Above average troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and initiate innovative solutions to problems.
  • Excellent communication, organization and customer service skills.
  • CSTS/OSSA, BSO, or CSO certification.
  • Must successfully pass BME pre‑employment evaluation, D&A and fit‑for‑duty pre‑employment screening.
