This is a fly-in/fly-out position from Edmonton or Calgary on an 8 days on, 6 days off rotation.
Key Accountabilities
- Champion the implementation and ongoing utilization of the client's Safety Management System.
- Promote and ensure consistency in industrial hygiene, safety systems, and radiation control programs across Oil Sands operations.
- Review incident reports, provide recommendations, and conduct investigations as required.
- Attend area safety meetings, pre-job safety meetings, and conduct regular field inspections to promote a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety and compliance inspections of facilities, contractors, consultants, and operations personnel.
- Complete Worksite Safety Observations and provide coaching to promote safe work practices.
- Support operational leadership by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Typically 5+ years of health and safety experience with a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety and/or a professional safety designation (NCSO, CRSP, CRST, etc.) is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of applicable government legislation and industry best practices.
- Previous Oil & Gas experience is preferred.
- Previous mining or Oil Sands experience is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with operations, contractors, and leadership teams.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada without restrictions.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
- Required industry safety certifications.
- Successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including criminal record checks and drug and alcohol testing, as this is a safety-sensitive position.
