As we continue with our growth strategy, we are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of EHS Lead based out of Fort McMurray, AB.
The EHS Lead will report to the Project Managers or their designate and will be the site key holder to our "Safety First" core value. This is a permanent position and will work closely with our site industrial construction, maintenance, and engineering team to continually manage the existing corporate policies and procedures for all aspects of health, safety, and environmental issues.
This role will report out of the Suncor facility on a 10‑on‑4‑off shift rotation. Accommodations will be provided with a food allowance.
Key Responsibilities:- Report to management on the status of the Rotaflow safety program within their locations such as strengths, expectations, and improvement opportunities.
- Partner with operations manager and site manager in the region to provide support for safety issues, working with all locations via monthly one‑on‑one video calls, operational calls, and coaching.
- Administer and maintain the company’s Work Hub platform, including employee onboarding, training assignments, document control, forms, inspections, incident reporting, corrective actions, competency records, and compliance reporting.
- Drive all aspects of health, safety, and environmental programs to maintain full compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as internal and external business requirements.
- Conduct safety audits, worksite inspections, and daily toolbox talks.
- Conduct incident investigations utilizing different investigation protocols and the ability to identify meaningful corrective action controls.
- Represent the company for any EHS requirements/3rd‑party vendor issues for employees working on customer sites (i.e., oil & gas, mining customers).
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
- Support other EHS projects as required.
- NCSO, OHS, CRSPO, or equivalent years’ experience in the health and safety sector.
- Exposure to and knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory requirements.
- Valid COR (Certificate of Recognition) Internal Auditor Certification (required).
- Strong ability to influence and lead associates, operations support, administrative support, and leadership staff.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a very systematic approach and analytical mentality.
- Strength in document control and the ability to be independently organized utilizing Microsoft 365.
- General knowledge of technical trades and equipment in oil and gas, mining, and construction.
- Experience administering and maintaining Work Hub (or a similar health, safety, and compliance management system), including employee training, orientation, document management, inspections, incidents, corrective actions, forms, and compliance tracking.
- Completion of Standard First Aid – Level C CPR (an asset).
- Independent thinker, self‑motivated, high ethical and moral standards, team‑focused.
