Salary:

  • Administrative Support 2 (AS2) based on 40 hours per week: $23.79 - $26.76 per hour
  • Administrative Support 3 (AS3) based on 36.25 hours per week: $23.34 - $29.53 per hour
In addition to regular wages, employees receive 11.6% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.

Benefits include 5.6% of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays and 6% instead of annual vacation pay. Shift Premium Pay: $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays, $2.75 per hour for evenings. Wage employees may be entitled to the Fort McMurray Allowance.

Overview

Provincial Parks provide a broad range of nature‑based outdoor recreational opportunities and are essential to the quality of life in Alberta. This role supports the Fort McMurray District in delivering exceptional customer service and park operations at Gregoire Lake Provincial Park.

Role Responsibilities

Information Officer (IO) – Based indoors at the registration booth/concession. Responsibilities include providing front‑line customer service, registering campers, delivering information about park activities, regulations, and nearby amenities, and maintaining a welcoming inclusive environment. IOs must manage time, attention to detail, conflict resolution, and work under pressure.

Seasonal District Support – Supports daily operations at park facilities, serving as the first point of contact for Information Officers. Duties include providing guidance, ensuring excellent customer service, collaborating with team members, revenue tracking, reconciliation, administrative tasks, and conflict resolution.

Recruitment – 7 Information Officers (IOs) and 1 Seasonal District Support.

Information Officer (AS2) Key Duties

  • Record safety, accident or wildlife occurrences and maintain lost and found records.
  • Assist in distributing information‑based communications such as posters, brochures, program advertisements.
  • Maintain and improve knowledge of recreational and tourist opportunities and respond to requests for information.
  • Operate the  system and ASPIRA cash register, ensuring accurate sales, inventory, and security.
  • Communicate operational hours, manage retail sales, inventory control, and maintain facility cleanliness and security.
  • Provide exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for day users and overnight campers.
  • Manage visitor concerns, complaints, emergencies, and referrals to appropriate departments.
  • Assist other park program streams and report issues with reservation systems and equipment.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of park areas, natural history, and conditions to assist the public.

Seasonal District Support (AS3) Key Duties

  • Manage POS system and till floats for accurate change.
  • Review and reconcile camping and retail sales revenue and complete weekly bank deposits.
  • Input self‑registration data and reconcile forms.
  • Assist Information Officers with cash discrepancies and Area Office Coordinator with administrative tasks.
  • Assist supervisor with inventory, cover‑offs, and mentor Information Officers.
  • Maintain open communication with other program areas.
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day tasks and ensure procedures are followed.
  • Ensure IO team receives appropriate training for business operations and reservation systems.

Qualifications

Required – Information Officer (AS2)

  • High school diploma.
  • Preference for experience with point of sales machines, retail, cash handling, and/or customer service.

Additional Requirements (AS2)

  • English language proficiency.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts during the season.
  • Knowledge of computer use (Excel, Outlook, Word, Publisher).
