The Role

We are currently recruiting for experienced Journeyman and Apprentice Millwrights to join our team at Kearl Oil Sands, a major oil sands site in Northern Alberta. The successful candidates will work in a safety-first environment on a 14/14 rotation. Camp accommodations and meals provided. Charter flights provided from designated hubs in Edmonton and Calgary with flight allowances based on the province located.

This project is 6 months in duration and will be starting beginning of March.

Compensation/Benefits
  • CLAC hourly wages
  • Payday is every Friday
  • Company contributed RRSP & Pension contributions
  • Benefits after 300 hours
  • Paid training
  • 10% vacation and stat holiday pay on regular earnings
  • OT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day
Job Duties /Responsibilities Journeyman
  • Read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures
  • Operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts
  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
  • Align and test equipment, and make any necessary adjustments
  • Perform predictive and operational procedures
  • Repair or replace defective parts as needed
  • Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Adhering to all company safety procedures and regulatory standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
Apprentice
  • Providing support to Journeymen in all their tasks, including installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment.
  • Studying and applying learned knowledge from technical manuals, diagrams, and schematic drawings to understand work procedures.
  • Participating in the fitting of bearings, alignment of gears and shafts, and connecting couplings under direct guidance.
  • Performing fundamental maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, and basic parts replacement.
  • Strict adherence to all company safety procedures and regulatory standards, including proper use of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
  • Learning to safely operate and maintain rigging equipment, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Organizing tools, materials, and equipment needed for a job site.
Skills/Qualifications/Education Journeyman
  • Registered Journeyperson Millwright Certification
  • Must have valid safety tickets (CSTS-2020, WHMIS 2015, First Aid, H2S Alive, AWP, Fall Arrest and Confined Space)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Previous experience working in an industrial setting
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must be willing to complete a criminal background check
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Apprentice
  • Must be a registered Millwright Apprentice
  • Valid safety tickets: (CSTS-2020, WHMIS 2015, H2S Alive, AWP, Fall Arrest and Confined Space)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience working in an industrial setting
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must be willing to complete a criminal background check
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
