Class 1 Driver – Fluid Hauler

Position Summary

Our GFL Fort McMurray Team is looking for a Class 1 Tank Truck Driver. The driver will transport various liquid wastes from customer sites throughout Alberta using predominantly a tri‑drive/quad combination. This position is Monday through Friday and will be based out of Fort McMurray, Alberta.

• Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, and compliance with applicable Acts and regulations.
• Familiar with government documents such as manifests and perform trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded to ensure safety and roadworthiness.
• Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver’s hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, customs and immigration, and weights and dimensions.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; verify vehicle and special loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Check vehicles before driving to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order and report any defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage.
• Verify all load‑related documentation is complete and accurate and maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, and repair status in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Record and maintain required documentation including driver logbook, bills of lading, manifests, etc. by manual or electronic means.
• Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co‑workers both verbally and in written form.
• Load and unload trucks and perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure loads are secure.
• Deliver product and proper paperwork to customers in a courteous and timely manner and clean up any debris caused by loading/unloading.
• Provide feedback to supervision regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems and train others when required.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Valid Class 1 Commercial Driving License and a fairly clean Commercial Drivers Abstract.
• Must be able to operate a manual transmission truck.
• Experience working in a safety‑sensitive environment.
• Experience hauling quad trailers is an asset.
• Out‑of‑town work is required; LOA/travel is included.
• Must successfully pass pre‑hire and site‑specific A&D screenings as required.
• Successful completion of a criminal record check.

• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and perform manual duties, including lifting 50+ lbs.
• Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors; overtime and weekend work may be required on an on‑call schedule.
