Overview
Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Haul Truck Operator is responsible for operating equipment in a safe, productive, and efficient manner in accordance with project scope and job requirements. The operator will also keep equipment clean and maintain it, while complying with all policies and procedures for operation and securement. This safety‑sensitive position requires completion of pre‑employment/pre‑access testing, and may also require client training and a competency assessment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment to move, load, and unload materials.
- Conduct pre‑operational checks on equipment and keep the truck clean.
- Work shift rotations, days and nights.
- Maintain reliability and dependability at all times.
- Comply with all road regulations on site.
- Remain alert to risks or threats to prevent losses.
- Provide proper care for the operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Report all equipment damage to the Team Leader.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience operating Caterpillar 777, 785, 789, 793, 797, or Komatsu 980.
- Oil and gas industry experience is an asset.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- College or industry courses in heavy equipment operation are an asset.
- Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract; abstract must be submitted when applying.
- Valid CSO or BSO, or a combination of CSTS and OSSA.
- Ability to speak, write, and read English.
- LPS training is an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Full‑time position located north of Fort McMurray, AB. 6 on, 6 off schedule; 3 days and 3 nights. Must be eligible to work on Syncrude site. Camp or flight accommodations are not provided.
