Information Security Specialist

Summary

This position for The Defense Information Systems Agency is at Fort Meade, Maryland.

• Advise Agency managers on new developments and advances in security processes, methods, techniques, systems, and devices.
• Implement the process to accept and manage marking and designation of CUI in accordance with existing processes based in laws, regulations, and Government-wide policies.
• Plan, develop, and perform program evaluations; accomplish continual program oversight; perform studies, analyses, and forecasts; and provide authoritative advice and assistance to Bureau managers and officials on security programs.
• Independently plan, develop, and implement security policies and procedures to ensure that classified material is received, transmitted, handled and stored.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
• This is a Drug Testing position.
• Individuals occupying positions designated as DSPs are required to meet certification requirements of the Security Professional Education Development (SPED) Program.

Time in Grade:

For entry at the GS-12 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

Specialized

Experience:

For the GS-12
, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience implementing and evaluating systems for information security in one or more of the major security program functional areas such as: controlled unclassified information, operations and/or industrial.

Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education:

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level.
