Opportunity:
Virtual Service Operations is searching for an experienced AWS Security / ATO Specialist to join our dynamic IT team in Fort Meade, MD. This hybrid role requires candidates to work approximately 2–3 days per week on-site. In this role, you will support the security authorization of AWS cloud-based workloads by developing and maintaining compliance documentation, automating security controls, and integrating cloud audit data to meet ATO requirements under the MPO framework.
Requirements
- 7-9 years of professional experience supporting security compliance and ATO (Authority to Operate) efforts for AWS cloud workloads in a classified environment.
- Pursuant to a government contract, this position requires U.S. citizenship status.
- An active Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) Security Clearance from MPO with a Green badge is required.
- Must be able to work approximately 2–3 days per week on-site in Fort Meade, MD.
Responsibilities / What you will do
- Develop security documentation and automate compliance controls for AWS workloads.
- Integrate AWS audit data to meet MPO and NIST requirements.
- Support security authorization efforts in a classified environment.
Qualifications
- Security Compliance & Frameworks:
Deep knowledge of NIST RMF and NIST SP 800-53; experience authoring ATO documentation and security artifacts. - Cloud Security & Monitoring: AWS Config (compliance automation), Amazon Cloud Watch & AWS Cloud Trail (monitoring logs and security events), integration of cloud logs with GRC tools.
- Automation & Scripting:
Python for automating security tasks and compliance workflows. - System Hardening:
Building and managing STIG-compliant AMIs and cloud resources. - Nice to Have:
Experience with continuous compliance monitoring tools; familiarity with AWS Security Hub, Guard Duty, and IAM policies.
