Cloud Engineer

The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse Big-Data cloud systems based on documented requirements. They provide expertise in cloud computing and ecosystems, including implementing applications, distributed computing, information retrieval (IR), and object-oriented design. The role involves working individually or as part of a team, reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements, and documenting test results.

The engineer resolves software problem reports and utilizes appropriate software development and design methodologies. They contribute specific input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs and the use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) products.

Requirements include experience deploying applications in cloud environments, understanding cloud scalability, Hadoop/Cloud certification, designing and developing automated analytic software and algorithms, and expertise in various data formats and technologies. Additional experience with linguistics, taxonomy construction, ontologies, and social network analytics is also desired. The role may involve LDAP protocol configuration management and cluster performance management.
