Technical Writer III

Kavaliro is seeking a Technical Writer III to support a client in Maryland.

• Under general direction, write technical copy for documents for programs/projects of similar complexity.
• Apply concepts for technical writing based on engineering drawings, technical information from engineering documentation, consultations with engineers and subject matter experts, and other sources.
• Produce defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training manuals, and other documentation used by the end-user community of DoD electronic equipment and systems.
• Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures to understand and blend large quantities of computer-related information.
• Research highly technical subject matter, organize information from multiple sources, and express information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience.
• Produce technical documentation for Cryptologic programs or projects developing analytic tradecraft methodologies.
• Apply the NSA DS-89 technical manual standard to work products.
• Prepare and maintain operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and other technical publications.
• Prepare reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences.
• Collaborate with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials; coordinate layout and design of documents; participate in all phases of documentation.
• Gather technical information and translate it into clear written text; maintain an internal documentation library if applicable.
• Use MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and related tools for documentation and presentations.
• Demonstrate basic grammar and writing concepts to ensure clarity of technical content.

• Eight plus (8+) years of experience as a Technical Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. A Master’s degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, reducing the requirement to a minimum of six (6) years of experience. Four (4) years of additional TW experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is required.
• Knowledge and ability to apply technical manual standards (NSA DS-89) to work products.
