Senior Technical Writer/Developer (Salesforce Web Support) with Security Clearance

Fort Meade, Maryland – Akima Infrastructure Services (a Compass Point, Akima company).

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Writer/Developer to work in Fort Meade, Maryland. This role involves researching, writing, editing, and proofreading technical data for use in documents such as manuals, procedures, and specifications. You will ensure documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to quality, graphics, coverage, format and style standards. You will assist in establishing style guidelines, retrieve, organize, analyze and synthesize subject matter, and transform it into clear, easy‑to‑understand information.

You will create or revise product documentation, including installation, operation and maintenance instructions, and other technical publications such as technical advisories and release notes.

Responsibilities
  • Develop white papers with input from technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) addressing common issues and providing recommendations and workarounds for known issues.
  • Assist in collecting and organizing information for user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, optimization suggestions, and reports.
  • Responsible for editing functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables, conducting research, and ensuring proper technical terminology.
  • Translate technical information into clear, readable documents for technical and non‑technical personnel.
  • Prepare all online documentation using the standard help compiler for applications built to run in a Windows environment.
  • Assist with financial and administrative functions related to documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain operations documentation, user guides, manuals, and technical publications; prepare reports, responses, and briefings for a wide range of audiences.
  • Work with developers to produce quality documentation and training materials.
  • Coordinate layout and design of documents.
  • Support the preparation of documents and contract deliverables and reports.
  • Manage several different tasks from several different requestors simultaneously.
  • Work with the engineering team and technical writers to create/maintain Salesforce web pages that capture frequently asked questions and answers.
  • Work with PMO staff to develop webpages addressing cloud capabilities across multiple vendors.
  • Develop Salesforce workflows to manage customer interactions, including forwarding emails, creating feedback forms, collecting mission owner feedback, and organizing data into reports for government review and prioritization.
  • Perform work with a high degree of latitude and handle the most complex issues, possibly acting as a lead.
Qualifications
  • An interim Secret clearance is required for consideration; an active DoD Secret clearance is highly preferred.
  • 10 years of recent relevant experience, with five years in Computer Science, an engineering‑related discipline, or a related field.
  • BA/BS (or equivalent) and Information Assurance Management (IAM) IAM‑III level certification.
  • Knowledge of technical writing standards, authoring tools, and Salesforce documentation practices.
