Principal Network Evaluator

This role supports a Computer Network Defense mission by conducting proactive vulnerability assessments, detecting network intrusions, and developing mitigation strategies to strengthen enterprise security. You will analyze network traffic, routing devices, and audit logs to identify threats and produce actionable recommendations for government stakeholders. This is a hands‑on technical role at the intersection of network engineering and cybersecurity operations.

• Conduct proactive network defense activities including vulnerability assessments, attack surface analysis, and intrusion detection
• Analyze network routing devices, traffic flows, and audit logs from Cisco, Juniper, and Arista environments
• Perform packet-level analysis to identify malicious activity and support incident response
• Monitor and investigate security events using SIEM platforms such as Splunk and Elastic
• Support digital forensics and exploitation analysis efforts
• Research emerging vulnerabilities and technologies to develop mitigation courses of action
• Document analytic findings and produce comprehensive technical reports for stakeholders

• Computer network defense (CND) and incident response experience
• Networking knowledge across Cisco, Juniper, and Arista devices and protocols
• Vulnerability assessment methodologies and tools
• Packet analysis using Wireshark, tcpdump, or equivalent
• SIEM experience with Splunk and/or Elastic
• Cybersecurity analysis and threat investigation

• Hunt team or Blue Team operational experience
• Knowledge of Network Defense Integrity (NDI) Methodology
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and NIST cybersecurity frameworks
• Digital forensics and intrusion detection system (IDS) experience
• Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or similar languages
• Relevant certifications:
  Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, or CISSP
