Must have a valid driver's license and own vehicle to drive on and off military base.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepare and cook all meats (beef, pork, poultry, fish and game) and other entrees by roasting, broiling, baking, frying, boiling, steaming, sautéing and stewing.
  • Prepare a variety of vegetables, starches, gravies, sauces, sandwiches and other short‑order foods in accordance with production schedules, standard recipes and 1st cook’s instructions.
  • Adjust standardized recipes for the number of servings required in large‑quantity cooking.
  • Slice meats by hand or meat slicer, conforming to specific size or weight specifications.
  • Pan‑fry bacon, sausage, ham or other items as required.
  • Wash, clean, peel and cut fruits and vegetables for salads and general cooking.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand written food‑service material.
  • Must have, within the past five years, at least three years of general experience in volume food preparation and service.
  • Must have at least two years of experience preparing short‑order and cafeteria‑style meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), including soups, salads, gravies, sauces, vegetables, meats, fish, poultry, breads, desserts and pastries.
  • Must possess knowledge of progressive cooking techniques and understanding of the characteristics—color, flavor, consistency, texture, temperature, and cooking time—of various foods.
  • High school graduate or GED required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to frequently move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Possession of a culinary degree from an accredited institution waives this requirement.
