Security Investigator - Entry to Mid Level (Maryland)
National Security Agency (NSA) seeks a Security Investigator to protect agency information, people, and facilities worldwide. The role requires completion of the NSA Security Investigator Training Program and assignment to investigations related to personnel security suitability, counterintelligence, and counter terrorism.
Responsibilities- Apply interviewing, elicitation, debriefing, and interrogation techniques in a systematic manner.
- Prepare detailed, concise, and accurate reports that capture information developed during investigations.
- Conduct counterintelligence or security inspections, investigations, or audits to resolve problems, clarify suspicious activities, and ensure compliance with security regulations.
- Create analytical products based on security and/or counterintelligence data.
- Maintain liaison with local, state, and federal law‑enforcement and investigative agencies to coordinate matters of mutual interest.
- Operate a motor vehicle daily and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Perform physical activities in all weather conditions, including standing, walking, or kneeling for long periods.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent plus 4 years of relevant experience; or an associate’s degree plus 2 years; or a bachelor’s degree plus no experience.
- Full‑performance entry requires 7 years of relevant experience, or an associate’s degree plus 5 years, or a bachelor’s degree plus 3 years, or a master’s degree plus 1 year; or a doctoral degree plus no experience.
- Relevant experience in security, law enforcement, behavioral science, investigations, or a related field.
- Experience gathering, analyzing, or synthesizing information.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and adapt to constructive feedback.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Salary range: $57,164 – $131,826 for entry/developmental and full‑performance levels. Benefits include a comprehensive federal package. This is a full‑time position, Monday – Friday, 8 hour/day with required start time 6:00–7:30 a.m. The role requires a two‑year DCIPS trial period unless veteran‑preference eligibility applies, in which case a one‑year trial applies.
