Position OverviewThe General Ledger & Cost Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and providing insightful cost accounting support. As a direct report to the Controller, this position combines hands-on transaction management with analytical cost reporting to support business decision-making in a child safety focused organization.
Key Responsibilities- General Ledger Management:
- Process, reconcile, and maintain GL accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Support month-end and year-end close cycles, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Cost Accounting & Analysis:
- Track, analyze, and report on product and operational costs across production, shipping, and storage.
- Provide actionable insights into cost variances, efficiency improvements, and margin enhancement.
- Financial Reporting and
Collaboration:- Assist the Controller in preparing financial statements, analyzing trends, and offering recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Procurement, Manufacturing) to interpret cost data and support budget planning.
- Process Improvement & Compliance:
- Identify opportunities to streamline GL and cost accounting processes and improve automation.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, standard operating procedures, and GAAP requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or Cost Accounting certification preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, cost accounting, or similar roles, preferably in manufacturing or supply chain settings.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting systems.
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaborative abilities.
