To respond quickly to inquiries from staff, the public, etc., to provide requested information and/or referral to other parties; and providing general clerical support as may be requested.
Performance Responsibilities- Answer multiline telecommunication system for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries and/or taking messages.
- Assist other personnel in supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Distribute mail, supplies, messages, menus, keys, etc. for disseminating materials to appropriate parties.
- Evaluate situations (e.g. involving other staff, students, parents, the public, police, probation department, etc.) for appropriate action and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Greet public, parents, students, substitutes, vendors, etc. for the purpose of responding to their inquiries and/or directing them to appropriate personnel.
- Perform record keeping and a broad array of general and program specific clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, coping, faxing, etc.) for the purpose of supporting assigned administrator and/or site with necessary materials as may be required.
- Process documents and materials for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties.
- Respond to emergency calls for the purpose of notifying appropriate parties to address immediate safety issues.
- Schedule a variety of activities (e.g. meetings, work orders, vendors, travel arrangements, staff coverage, facilities usage, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in meeting staff needs and efficient utilization of personnel, equipment and facilities.
- Perform other reasonable functions as requested by supervisor.
- High school diploma required.
- Proficient technology skills.
- Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines.
- Pleasant and positive personality.
- Ability to take instructions and work well with others.
- Ability to assist the public with tact and enthusiasm.
- Experience with Office Professionals Programs;
Word, Excel, etc. and a willingness to learn different computer programs. - A genuine passion for working with children.
Reports to: Principal, Director or Supervisor
Supervises: Student helpers, volunteers, special clerical assistants and students as needed.
Terms of EmploymentS4 FMSD Salary Schedule. 7 hours/day, 5 days/week or 35 hours/week. 190-day contract. Initial placement on the salary schedule is based on a formula that considers experience and credentials.
EvaluationPerformance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of noncertified personnel.
