Retail & Store Manager, Stocking
Position Summary
The Receiver is responsible for leading a smooth and efficient Receiving Department within a store and reports to the Store Manager. The main function of this position is to accurately check in store vendors, warehouse trucks and other common carriers such as Fed Ex, while following the company's Standard Operating Procedures. This position requires extensive organization and multi-tasking skills. This person must foster positive communication between business partners, Department Managers and Team Members and may provide occasional customer service within the store.
High levels of accuracy and attention to detail are required. The Receiver must operate a clean and organized back room, while maintaining a secure and safe working environment. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel and ability to utilize a Falcon hand‑held computer‑scanner are required. This person manages a department independently with little supervision.
- Check in store vendors, warehouse trucks and common carriers following the Standard Operating Procedures for the department. Document any shortages, discrepancies, damages or miss‑picked items to ensure proper credits to departments and store. Coordinate the flow of product in the back room while maintaining an efficient process of receiving, storing, and distribution of product to various departments. Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
- Oversee the recycling program and shopping cart usage and storage. Responsible for back door security relating to product and people. Ensure cleanliness of backroom and proper storage of products. Maintain organization of paperwork and communications with Vendors and Team Mates. Support the Grocery Department with various tasks as needed.
- Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to direct people in a positive and professional manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel. Ability to learn and use a Falcon hand‑held computer scanner.
- Detail oriented and proficiency in math skills.
- Ability to use a hand operated pallet jack.
- Understanding of food safety and warehouse experience preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays. Flexibility to support sister stores in the same region when business needs arise.
- Must attend work on a regular and predictable basis.
- Must complete assigned tasks in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness.
- Must uphold Company policies, including the anti-harassment program.
- Must work in a cooperative manner with managers, supervisors, coworkers, customers and the public.
- Must uphold the highest standard of integrity, honesty and ethical behavior.
- Must work effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions.
- Must be able to work varying shifts, including overtime.
- Retail/warehouse experience preferred.
- Earth Fare experience preferred.
- Works in a fast-paced environment.
- May work in environments of extreme cold and extreme heat.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. (In the event an item weighs over 50 pounds the Team Member should have another member of the team help lift the item).
- Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, kneel and squat.
- Must be able to push, pull, and maneuver heavy loads.
- Must be able to stand and be on one's feet the majority of the work day.
