Description
Surgical Technologist II aids in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. In addition to intraoperative duties, the Surgical Technologist II may also perform preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care. The Surgical Technologist II performs these functions during the operation under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS
:
Degree / Licensure / Certification / Registration
:
Completion of a Surgical Technician program. Graduation from a surgical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). BLS certification required.
Experience Required
:
One (1) year experience is desired.
Special Skills & Qualifications
:
- Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Effective human relations skills are required for interacting with team members, physicians, patients, families and other contacts.
- Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment.
- Must possess the ability to remain on their feet for extended periods of time.
- Assist patients to and from bed/wheelchair/gurney; and to perform the essential job functions of the position.
- Must possess the ability to use the following equipment:
Telephone / Overhead Paging System / Fax Machine / Calculator / Computer / Wheelchair / Gurney / Hospital Beds. - Must be able to work any scheduled shifts, periodic overtime, and take call as requested.
- Ability to respond to on-call activation within 30 minutes for those departments providing 24/7 coverage.
