Radiologic Technologist / CT Tech
Overview
Valley View Medical Center – Radiology Technologist (PRN) under Req #1658 ). The Radiology Technologist assists in the maintenance/management of the radiology department service and Quality Improvement Plan in accordance with hospital standards and regulatory agencies; performs and ensures patient safety while operating radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations (including tomography), portable x-ray, and processes films. Assists in documenting and maintaining Diagnostic Imaging Policy and Procedure Manuals and refers to policy and procedure manuals for proper operation and quality control of equipment.
Responsibilities- Assist in the maintenance of the Diagnostic Imaging Policy and Procedure Manuals and refer to policy and procedure manuals for proper operation/quality control of equipment.
- Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations (including tomography), portable x-ray and process films with patient safety in mind.
- Assist physicians in detection and localization of anatomy using appropriate technical factors, age-specific positioning, and shielding techniques for patients of all ages (newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics).
- Utilize knowledge and skills to meet growth, development, and ongoing clinical needs of all patients.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels, storage, and safekeeping of films, files, chemicals, and patient supplies; ensure cleanliness of equipment and work areas; notify supervisor of equipment and supply needs.
- Participate in orientation and training of new personnel and in continuing education programs to enhance skills and credentials.
- Verify doctors orders and patient performing procedures; check for allergies to iodine/contrast media for contrast studies.
- Label films appropriately with patient name, orientation, and technique; demonstrate proficiency in selecting proper dosing/equipment settings prior to x-ray procedures.
- Assure films/reports/patient chart are available to Radiologist/Physician.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Degree / Licensure / Certification / Registration
:
Requires completion of a Radiologic Technology program and current registration and licensure by the Medical Technological Board of Examiners of Arizona (CRT) and AART; must have a current BLS Card.
Experience Required
:
Must possess broad experience in Diagnostic Imaging including routine, fluoroscopic, and tomography procedures.

- Ability to delegate tasks to subordinate team members and oversee their performance.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; effective human relations with team members, staff, physicians, patients, families, and other contacts.
- Ability to function effectively in a stressful environment.
- Ability to remain on feet for extended periods, lift heavy objects, assist patients to and from bed/wheelchair/gurney; perform essential duties of the position.
- Ability to use equipment including telephone/overhead paging system/fax machine/calculator/computer/wheelchair/gurney/hospital beds and all Diagnostic Imaging Equipment.
- Must be able to work any scheduled shifts, and be willing to work periodic overtime and be prepared to take call as required.
