Respiratory Therapist - PRN - Rotating Shifts at Valley View Medical Center. Req #1654 ).

• Perform ABG punctures according to P/P manual; take and record patients' vital signs, including breath sounds, ventilator status, mental status, and response to treatment.
• Provide specialized, personal patient care and maintain, troubleshoot, clean, and perform minor repairs on respiratory equipment; set ventilator parameters according to P/P manual and doctors' orders.
• Secure/assist in placing or tapping an E.T. tube, minimizing facial/oral and tracheal trauma.
• Record patient response to treatment on respiratory care notes and complete all billing paperwork.
• Perform EKGs and notify RN/MD of any adverse findings; file and maintain patient EKG and ECHO charts and ensure records are complete.
• Assess patients, develop a plan of care and discharge plan, and address home environment needs; educate patients according to assessment outcomes.
• Identify patients and verify orders before administration of any treatment or respiratory care; explain plans of care to patients and document level of understanding.
• Provide proper pharmacological salutation concentrations and administer as prescribed by MD; monitor effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Degree / Licensure / Certification / Registration: Requires AZ Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
• Current BLS, PALS and NRP required upon hire.
• Must obtain ACLS within 90 days of hire.
• Able to perform basic respiratory care procedures on newborns, pediatrics and adults.
• Requires CRT or RRT Credentials.
• Must be able to work day shift, evening shift, night shift, or weekends as scheduled.
• Must be willing to work periodic overtime and be prepared to take call as scheduled.
• Maintains appropriate patient care documentation in accordance with P & P manual.

• Experience Required
  : 3 years hospital respiratory therapy experience preferred.

  :
• Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members at all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts.
• Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment. Must be able to remain on feet for extended periods and lift heavy objects; assist patients to and from bed/wheelchair/gurney; and perform the essential duties of the position.
• Must be able to use equipment including telephone/overhead paging system/fax machine/calculator/computer/wheelchair/gurney/hospital beds.
• Must be able to work any scheduled shifts and be willing to work periodic overtime and take call as requested.
• Completed Competency Based Skills Checklists for assigned units; able to perform basic respiratory care procedures on newborns, pediatrics and adults.
