The primary purpose of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position is to assist the professional nursing staff by providing personal nursing care to patients. Performs various duties related to the assigned nursing unit in accordance with established Hospital Policies and Procedures. These include, but are not limited to, Vital signs, Intake/Output measurements, Rounding, Blood Glucometer measurements, Bed making, Giving bed baths, Room cleanliness, Assisting with monitoring of transmission based precautions, stocking and other duties as assigned and qualified.
The Certified Nursing Assistant has the responsibility of reporting any unusual occurrences, patient and/or employee issues, work related accidents to the Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses who are responsible for the delivery of patient care. Strives daily to give all customers very good care and promotes Valley View Medical Centers’ Standards of Behavior and other duties as assigned.

- Degree / Licensure / Certification / Registration

Arizona Certified Nursing Assistant certificate required. Current BLS certification required. - Experience Required

One (1) year experience is desired. - Special Skills & Qualifications
: - Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts. Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment. Must possess the ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects; assist patients to and from bed/wheelchair/gurney;
and to perform the essential duties of the position. Must possess the ability to use the following equipment:
Telephone / Overhead Paging System / Fax Machine / Calculator / Computer / Wheelchair / Gurney / Hospital Beds. Must be able to work any scheduled shifts. Must be willing to periodic overtime and be prepared to take call as requested. Completed Competency Based Skills Checklists for unit(s) assigned.
