• Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers.
• Cashiers process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system, handling tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, and coupons.
• Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and control loss honestly.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current on present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needed repairs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about in‑store products.
• Adhere to all laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, cooperative manner.
