As the Safety Coordinator for Industrial Communications West/Industrial Tower West, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, contractors, and visitors by implementing and maintaining effective safety programs, trainings and procedures. This position requires a strong focus on regulatory compliance and the ability to drive a safety-conscious culture throughout the organization. Candidates must have experience in the telecommunications, utility, wind energy or other construction industry that deals with fall protection safety.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks.
  • Recommend appropriate control measures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Conduct safety meetings and supply supervisors with material to conduct daily and weekly meetings with their crew.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, near misses, and corrective actions taken.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations by managing and maintaining up-to-date DOT driver qualification files, records, and medical cards.
  • Conduct engaging new hire orientations, ensuring that all employees receive proper safety training, fleet training and are aware of safety policies and procedures.
  • Travel to sites and crew bases to provide training, advisement, and safety orientation. Travel may be up to 30%.
  • Monitor and train contractors to ensure safety practices while working on site.
  • Coordinate training programs on tower climbing safety, lockout tagout procedures, fall protection, and other safety-related topics for new and current employees.
  • Evaluate and review Job Description s for any specialized safety training.
  • Develop training for new equipment, PPE etc.
  • Assist Human Resources to enforce a comprehensive drug and alcohol testing program to ensure a substance‑free workplace.
  • Monitor and track the usage of personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses, lanyards, and other necessary gear, ensuring proper utilization, maintenance, and availability.
  • Implement an effective PPE tracking system to ensure accurate inventory management and timely replacements when needed.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
  • Collaborate with HR on the evaluation, development and implementation of a comprehensive safety program, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including required documentation regarding safety and training, worker compensation and return to work, accident investigations including auto accidents and onsite investigations.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to safety.
Qualifications
  • Working experience in the telecommunications, utility, wind energy or other construction industry that deals with fall protection safety.
  • Experience in developing and coordinating safety programs, training and facilitation.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and best practices, including OSHA standards.
  • Strong understanding of DOT driver qualification requirements and related documentation including requirements for the Clearing House.
  • Experience in conducting hazard assessments and implementing control measures.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
  • 30‑hour OSHA certification is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Candidates must be able to pass all pre‑employment processes, including substance screen, criminal background and motor vehicle record checks.
