Job Summary
The Data Management Specialist I supports the Office of Institutional Research by gathering, analyzing and entering Faculty Activity Reporting data. This role also assists with data processing tasks that support additional data requests and projects.
Typical Duties- Collect and sort Faculty Activity Report paperwork.
- Collect data, resolve discrepancies, and enter and maintain high-volume faculty activity data according to deadlines.
- Assist in data entry, data cleaning, testing, and management procedures for data requests and reports.
- Review and correct data errors, verify output accuracy, and escalation of complex issues.
- Communicate across institutional departments to gather data and supporting documentation for reporting.
- Use relational databases to keep project records and generate reports.
- Draft portions of publications or training manuals and produce graphs, charts, and tables from data.
- Place information on the project website, including data gathering forms, and investigate related websites for format and content.
Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma and two years of full‑time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Relevant experience in entering and maintaining data and documents.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of specialization.
- Two years of relevant full‑time experience entering large volumes of data and document management.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertinent to the position.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous tasks within deadlines.
- Skilled in collecting and analyzing complex data.
- Accurate data entry with strong attention to detail.
- Strong math skills for accurate calculations, data analysis, and reporting support.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in operating personal computers and learning new applications and systems.
- Professional interaction with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service‑oriented environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
